I have been communicating
2 Juin 2016I have been communicating with Brian Crowley MEP - he is Irelands only representative on the JURI sub-committee (Legal affairs).
I forwarded details of two French legal cases successfully taken against Eurogroup which might be of interest to you:
Cour D'Appel, pau - No: 08/01396 (2010)
Cour De Cassation - 10-15.003 (2011)
I am unable to paste the links for some reason!
His secretary recently emailed me to advise that he is bringing the issue to the European Commission.
I would urge all Irish owners to contact his office and do the same.
Any English owners, should find their MEPS on the EU JURI subcommittee and do like wise.
The more people pushing this issue the more likely we are to succeed.

Hi CathW,
3 Juin 2016Hi CathW,
absolutely - I will be contacting Brian Crowley.
I agree, the more owners who contact him the better, and create pressure from an EU perspective the better. That is what they are there for - to represent Irish interests and protect them. This clearly has not happened thus far.
I think we need to quantify the issue in terms of number of Irish owners involved and encourage all to contact him.
I'll contact you directly on it.

Hi Carol,
4 Juin 2016Hi Carol,
I am interested in any actions to sort out this situation.
I have also spoken to Catherine and will follow her advice and contact Brian Crowley.
There is power in numbers, I learned a lot from Catherine. I think we should contact and perhaps have a meeting and develop strategies to put the pressure on and find out the real situation and our actual rights.

I have contacted one of the
10 Juin 2016I have contacted one of the UK newspapers to see if they have a journalist who would be interested in investigating/publishing this.
The owner of our letting agent company is English and has a subsiduary in the UK so this might be of interest.
There might also be an equivalent of CH 4 "Cowboy Builders" (Consumer Watchdog) that might be interested? Any ideas on this?

I just wrote long letter to Prime Time and told them some of our stories and have asked them to do a programme on the whole scam .
PLEASE WRITE TOO as the more people that write the more interst they will take of the scam .
So if we got PRIME TIME and the Sunday Independent ....qwell that is a start .
Newspapers are very hard to write to . You need to try and find the persons EXACT email address to write to and even at that it is hard to get them to write .
As Prime time closes for the Summer it would be Autumn before they would do anything .

Sinead Ryan wrote an article
13 Juin 2016Sinead Ryan wrote an article promoting French leaseback in May in the Indo - see http://www.independent.ie/life/home-garden/5-alternative-ways-to-invest-...
Like many of those property journalism pieces, it quotes the 'authoritative voice', generally someone who has a financial interest in the selling of these disastrous French leaseback properties, who emphasises once again, the 'guaranteed rent' and the 'major' tax incentives...
I'll drop her a mail!
