CdP served and rent received 6 weeks later

Finally received my rent which was welcome. The question is whether others are receiving their rent without serving CdPs or whether serving CdPs is the only way to ensure receipt of rent. I am interested in others' experiences going forward as it's almost time for me to serve another....
