My rental adjustment shall be according to French National Index of Building costs. (INSEE). The index is used in a unfavourly way by Odalys. I would expect that the rent is adjusted by the INDEX every year, it means that: Index this year divided by Index last year multyplied by last years rent is equal to new rent, and this is repeated every year. No, the Odalys version is as follows for each year , as an example: Index this year divided by Index year zero multiplied by year zero rent is the new rent. I calculated that the difference between Odalys method and my expected method is approx 4000 € in the favour of Odalys. My way of calculating have been checked by my accountant in France.
Have anyone else checked the annual adjustments and what can we do about it. Is Odalys way correct? I have written several emails to Odalys, but they do not respond to it.

I like your calculation
5 Décembre 2013I like your calculation better but I believe it to be incorrect. An index value of 183.1 for the current year compared to a base year, which has been set to equal 100.0, means that on average the pricesincreased by 83.1% since. An index value of 183.1, and an index value of 178.4 recorded a year earlier, the annual rate of inflation I = (183.1/178.4 − 1)* 100 = 2.65. Calculating rent each year inclusive of the year's previous index increase reflects a compounded increase would not be reflective of the changefrom the base index value as it would definitely result in a greater amount.
